In an Australian first for intergenerational living, a residential clubhouse will be connected to the Over 55’s community with some shared facilities. The community is designed upon international research into connectedness and loneliness. It is a move against the trend of isolating the elderly. Studies have shown the benefits of intergenerational interactions – seniors feel more purposeful and young people benefit from the elders’ guidance and problem-solving skills.
