Destined to become a popular commercial and waterfront precinct in Perth’s south-east metropolitan corridor, Yolk Property Group will develop Lot 10 Lake Road at Champion Lakes in partnership with Southern Cross Care on behalf of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority.
Valued at over $9.6million and expected to attract over $75 million in investment, the development know as Watermark will feature a diverse mix of residential lots, multi-dwellings, aged care, commercial space and a retirement wellness centre all focused around new and innovative waterfront amenity that will be a major drawcard for residents and visitors alike.
Yolk Property Group Project Director Andrew Graham said planning for the 14ha project was in part shaped by locals who voiced their aspirations for their community via an online survey late last year.
“People overwhelmingly told us that activation of the commercial and water precinct was crucial to inject life and vigour into the area,” Mr Graham said.
“Residents are looking for more opportunities to enjoy the lakeside with summer evening events, quality local shops, cafes, an open recreation park, barbecue areas and a more vibrant dining and entertainment precinct that children of all ages can safely explore.
“Added waterfront facilities for socialising and family entertainment will bring locals outdoors and attract visitors from the wider community looking for ways to enjoy Perth’s warm climate by the water’s edge.
“Watermark will also make the Champion Lakes Regatta facility more compelling for global sporting competitions wanting to take advantage of its 2,000-metre international standard eight lane rowing courses, 55ha lake and 11km sealed pathways for walking, cycling, running and triathlons.”
Mr Graham said discussions are currently underway to establish a micro-brewery and café or restaurant.
“It makes solid economic sense to connect the commercial precinct with Southern Cross Care’s retirement living and aged care offering, so we are looking to attract a high calibre hospitality operator that will appeal to people of all ages, all year round,” he said.
“Our vision is to create a community asset where people can socialise, recreate and exercise in a way that fosters a sense of belonging and makes the most of the rare lakeside setting.
“In addition, we are speaking with medical, physio, pharmacist and childcare operators to create a health and wellness centre the broader community can access.”
Located within the City of Armadale, Watermark forms part of the Champion Lakes development – four kilometres north-west of the Armadale city centre and 22 kilometres from the Perth CBD.
